Texas New-Mexico Power Donates $8,900 to CASA of Hill County Texas
Strengthening Advocacy and Support for Children in Foster Care
Hillsboro, Texas – CASA of Hill County Texas is honored to announce a generous $8,900 donation from Texas New-Mexico Power (TNMP). This vital contribution will help advance CASA’s mission of advocating for the best interests of children in foster care across Hill County.
TNMP’s support will directly enhance three core areas of CASA’s work:
- Community Training aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on the needs and experiences of children in the foster care system.
- Pre-Service Advocate Training, which equips new volunteers with the tools and knowledge they need to advocate effectively for children.
- Ongoing support for children in foster care, ensuring that their needs are met and their voices heard throughout their time in care.
“This investment from Texas New-Mexico Power empowers us to strengthen our outreach, grow our team of dedicated volunteers, and most importantly, continue showing up for the children who need us most,” said Sarah Gardner, Executive Director. “We are deeply grateful for TNMP’s partnership in building a stronger, more supportive community for Hill County’s most vulnerable youth.”
CASA of Hill County Texas (Court Appointed Special Advocates) recruits, trains, and supports volunteers who serve as a consistent presence for children navigating the child welfare system. These advocates speak up in court and in the community to ensure every child’s needs are met and their voices are heard.

Supporting Children in Foster Care Across Hill County
Hillsboro, Texas – CASA of Hill County Texas is proud to announce a generous donation of $3,300 from the Gaines Foundation, a valued partner in supporting vulnerable children and families within our community.
This contribution will directly benefit Hill County children in foster care through several important initiatives. The funding will support:
- CASA’s Advocate Library, which provides books, games, and educational materials used by volunteer advocates when working with children.
- Direct assistance for children in care, helping to cover the cost of school supplies, holiday gifts, basic necessities, and participation in extracurricular activities.
- Postage and shipping costs for sending care packages and essential items to children placed outside of Hill County.
“Support like this from the Gaines Foundation allows us to continue going above and beyond in meeting the needs of the children we serve,” said Sarah Gardner, Executive Director. “It’s more than just financial assistance—it’s a reminder to our kids that their community sees them, cares for them, and is invested in their futures.”

Thank you Smith Foundation

Hillsboro, Texas – The Smith Foundation recently made a generous donation of $3800.00 to CASA if Hill County Texas, an organization which provides children in foster care with a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteer to advocate for their best interests.
The Smith Foundation’s donation will support CASA of Hill County Texas volunteer advocate recruitment efforts as they continue to advocate for children and families across Hill County
“We are so thankful for the support from The Smith Foundation,” said Sarah Gardner, executive director of CASA of Hill County Texas. “It’s because of the continued generosity of our community and supporters like The Smith Foundation that CASA of Hill County Texas can do the work we do advocating for children in foster care and their families.”
The Smith Foundation’s purpose is to enrich the lives of citizens of Hill County, Texas. Their financial support of CASA of Hill County makes it possible for the program to serve 100 percent of children in foster care from Hill County. This financial support certainly is enriching the lives of the youngest citizens of Hill County Texas.
CASA of Hill County Texas was able to purchase new recruiting materials including brochures, flyers, stickers, birthday postcards, yard signs, and other informational materials. These items will be used to recruit qualified candidates who are willing and able to stand up and speak for the children that are in foster care in Hill County.
CASA volunteers with CASA of Hill County Texas are members of the community who are specially trained and appointed by judges to advocate for a child or sibling group while they are in the foster care system. They advocate for the child in court, school and other settings; and get to know everyone involved in the child’s life, including their parents, foster parents, teachers, doctors, family members and others.
CASA volunteers advocate first and foremost for children to be reunified with their parents whenever safe and possible. When reunification is not an option, they may advocate for the child to live with another relative or family friend. They can also advocate for the child to be placed in an adoptive home. In all cases, CASA volunteers are steadfast, consistent presences for the children they serve, making sure the children are safe and have the resources and connections they need to grow and thrive.
“We are always in need of donations to support our work, as well as more CASA volunteers to serve children and families in our community,” said Gardner, “There is no other volunteer experience like being a CASA volunteer, and I encourage anyone interested to find out more about the work we do and how you can become a part of it.”
